We offer free senior housing search assistance and counseling for individuals and their families throughout Ottawa and can offer light services in SD&G and Eastern Ontario. In Ottawa alone there are more than 85 licensed retirement communities and unfortunately there is no standard language or terminology, service provision, rate, or level of accommodations among them. Solva not only understands the differences between each community but also how they operate. We have toured the communities and can help you save time and make informed decisions when narrowing down your search.

We also offer a number of resources for seniors and their families so that you can feel fully prepared and confident in your senior housing selection. Throughout the entire process, our team is on-hand to provide you with the support and guidance you need.
Long Term Care
Long Term Care facilities are government regulated and operated differently than Retirement Homes. Long Term Care Facilities offer a co-payment model where the resident pays for the accommodations and meals and the provincial government covers the care and services. Solva is the only Senior Living Counseling program with a background in LTC management and operations, and we can provide a free coaching call over the phone or in our office on LTC options. This includes providing you with HCCSS and/or community referrals for the admission process.

What you can expect
First, when you call us, we will not ask you to sign a contract or give us a retainer fee because there are absolutely no fees when working with us. There is no cost and no obligation. Our fees are covered by our provider partners.
Step 1: Consultation
We will provide a free consultation over the phone, in person, in your home, in the hospital - wherever is most convenient for you.
Step 2: Assessment and Discussion
We will listen to what you are telling us and through a series of questions, we will assess your needs, preferences, and budget. Our approach is to understand your personal goals for today while keeping the future in mind. During our meeting, we typically engage in an educational discussion about the various options and offerings available.
Step 3: Personalized Referrals
Once we understand your unique criteria we develop strategies to help you plan for the future, and refer you to trusted providers.
Step 4: Arrange and Escort on Tours
We create an itinerary for aging at home services and programs. We can also help you prepare for meetings with these services and programs so you get all the information you need to make an informed decision.
Step 5: Transitional Support
Should you decide to relocate in the future, we can further help with referrals for support services including realtors, professional downsizing and organizers, moving companies and everything in between.
